I don't know what your future life will be like, but I do know that having a broad base of knowledge about culture and the world outside of your field of specialty will be rewarding to you in the long run. Cultivating critical thinking will be a great help in your career, even though it's hard to see the direct connection to NMS now.

The digital portfolio will be just for this class, but you should definitely keep all the projects you do in this class since you never know what you might use as inspiration for a new project or revision. There is an exhibit called MilleFest that showcases the best work from NMS students, and one of your portfolio projects might make it to this show!
